*BREAKING* South Korea, which had a similarly prohibitive stance around cryptocurrency to India, has reportedly just legalized crypto with new legislation! I was invited to Korea in December 2019 for a massive govt event & workshop on blockchain (the one in the odd white blazer)
Even then they had massive all-govt attn directed towards building strong South Korean competency in blockchain - about 23 members of Parliament were present, 3 mayors of major provinces, all major think tanks and universities. Crypto was still taboo & now just 2 months later..
Anything is possible with good intentions & right effort! My heartiest congratulations to my dear friends in the Korean ecosystem who kept building common ground with regulators. This is also possible here & Policy 4.0 team is working hard to build common ground for both sides!

#breaking North Korea urges foreign diplomats to leave on Friday. Dozens of foreign diplomats quarantined in Pyongyang, North Korea are planning to take an evacuation flight this Friday, a source inside the country tells me.
The source agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity, given the extreme sensitivity of the current situation in North Korea: “We got a new note [on Saturday] urging missions again to leave and stating [the flight] is scheduled to leave on the 6th [of March],” the source says.
The source says North Korea’s state run airline Air Koryo will operate the flight to evacuate foreign diplomats from from Pyongyang to Vladivostok, Russia. “But as far as I understand this is not agreed yet with the Russians,” the source adds. Russian MOFA won’t confirm to CNN.

South Korea reports 31 more cases bringing total to 82 😬🇰🇷 & as expected the 1-yr LPR rate is slashed by 10bps & 5-yr only 5bps to 4.75%.

Rates going lower in China despite rising CPI & that means the gov is more worried about growth 🇨🇳👈🏻
Note that we still don't have updates from China for 19 Feb but the fatality rate based on the official figure is rising everyday to close to 3%. What is key is the spread of the virus outside of China & the ratio of people confirmed/serious critical or death.

HK is 6/65 or 9%
Another thing people watch for is NOT outside Hubei confirmation but OUTSIDE CHINA & the cases for Japan & South Korea are rising. To be fair, most of the cases are from this cruise - 621 infected out of 3711 or 21% infection rate 😬😬😬
