The Islamabad High Court has dismissed the arguments in the petition against the Aurat Azadi March!

These were the remarks by Chief Justice Athar Minallah on the petition submitted against us:

Have you read the demands issued by the organizers circulated widely on media & able to highlight anything unconstitutional or unIslamic? On what basis can you hypothesize is that there demands & slogans are bound to be unIslamic? Do you have any evidence to support your claim?

"The Aurat Azadi March organizers have already clarified the meaning of the slogans being impugned & how they fall within the rights already granted by the Constitution of Pakistan & by Islam. How can the petitioners say 'that is wrong' & attribute a negative meaning to them?"

"It is their fundamental right to raise genuine concerns regarding women rights. Their demands are in line with Islamic injunctions and stress on ensuring that the rights given to women in Islam and the constitution of Pakistan are implemented in practice."

“In our society, women are regularly not given their rights given by law and by Islam, including the issue of Karo Kari and denial of inheritance rights, but no Petition has ever been brought for the enforcement of those rights.

He said to the anti-March petitioners: "Had you come to me with a petition saying none of the rights given by Islam are being implemented in our society, such as the Law of Inheritance, this would have been more meaningful."

The honorable court then reserved the decision for orders after noting it was premature and the petitioners had the option of legal remedy if any violation of law took place at the march.
