New @DixieChicks "too strident for country"?

Like Reba as an upwardly-mobile prostitute (Fancy was her name)?

Carrie with a Louisville slugger to both headlights, carving her name into his leather seats?

Miranda showing her abuser little girls are made of gunpowder & lead? ⅕
Loretta Lynn no longer "staying at home" while he "had all the fun," but changes coming "on Nursey Hill," "'cause now I've got the pill"?

Reba, killing her brother's wife & lover, & her brother getting hung for it "the night the lights went out in Georgia"? ⅖
Wanda Jackson telling her husband "You think here at home is where I ought to be" as she teaches "wrong from right" with "my big iron skillet in my hand"?

Dolly Parton kidnapping a boss who treated her awful "from 9 to 5" & using his absence to advance in the company? ⅗
How bout the lyrics of a country hit about killing a friend's abusive husband:

"Those black-eyed peas, they tasted alright to me, Earl
You're feelin weak? Why don't you lay down & sleep, Earl?
Ain't it dark wrapped up in that tarp, Earl?"

—"Goodbye Earl," The Dixie Chicks ⅘
Maybe men in country don't do "strident" (arguable). But "strident" is a hallmark of women in country music. It ain't all just about "standing by your man" (ironically, The Dixie Chicks included a cover of "Stand By Your Man" as the B-side on their "Goodbye Earl" single). 5•

You're sorry, but where's my apology?"
