Western socialism assumes Europe and the US can afford to stay still and redistribute. China demonstrates the danger of assuming you can stand still.
Most ECMO and ELSO centers worldwide are in the US, but not in gov't hospitals.

The right question to ask, coldblooded though it may seem, is what are the opportunities in this crisis. How can we do more things online? Create surge capacity using automated manufacture? Making the workforce more agile?
Perhaps the single biggest opportunity is to rediscover the value of our lives; replacing the risk averse waiting-for-the-comfortable-end mentality with "do you want to live forever".

Everyone once knew the meaning of the words "be not afraid".

World War V is as much a competition between systems as WW2 was. Authoritarian China, the unapologetic origin of the virus, claims "we can outsurvive you" and showcases its superiority by sending aid to Italy. Is China right? Remember nature has no political affiliation.
China has a good chance of demonstrating that Xtra Strength Communism is superior to Half Assed Woke Social Democracy. But will it also prove superior to the creative ideal of a free market democracy?
The monkey on the West's back is the Narrative, the intersectional middleware than distorts everything it sees and twists everything it does. Somehow there must be a return to direct vision and proportional action.

Here's why the data on #CoronavirusOutbreak is severely underreported: #China is manipulating data of confirmed #WuhanCoronavirus cases through limiting the issue of Coronavirus diagnosis kits to hospitals.

Only those tested + w/ Coronavirus kit are noted as a confirmed case.
Without confirmation via kit, the patient's medical record in says "viral pneumonia," not "new coronavirus pneumonia."

Kit is only given depending on your condition, and very rarely "wasted" on already dead victims, so the reported mortality rate is very low.

A man named Zhang Xin, and his father, both presumed to be viral pneumonia, but were rejected by the Optics Valley Tongji Hospital w/ the reason given as, "there is no diagnosis w/out a kit, and w/out diagnosis patients cannot be admitted."

Both returned home w/out treatment.
