New Quinnipiac poll:

By 56-40, Biden is seen as better than Trump in a crisis.

Among independents, that's 59-33 (!)

Among women, that's 63-32 (!!!)

The poll is simply awful for Trump. Turns out he doesn't have magical chaos-spreading powers, after all:

It's crucial that @JoeBiden just offered a scathing indictment of Trump's use of the virus to spread reactionary nationalist panic. It bodes well for the campaign. The idea that our open society is the culprit is nonsense, even in its sophisticated forms:

If Trump and Republicans reject the new Democratic proposal on coronavirus in bad faith, House Dems will simply pass it and dump it in Trump's lap, challenging him to reject it, an aide tells me.

This is a lifeline. Trump should grab it.

The new Dem plan rests on four principles:

* Anyone who needs a test must get it
* Aid must be targeted to most vulnerable
* We need a much stronger safety net
* Our biggest problem is the virus is already here and spreading

Trump's speech blaming Europe and China for coronavirus isn't just the usual demagoguery.
