Our Cross-Border Initiative team is back in court💪Follow this thread to hear what's happening today in San Diego w/IJ O'Connor's #MPP courtroom w/@CargioliM. Out of 32 respondents there is only one attorney present. #RestoreAsylumNow (THREAD)
The room is full of families today. One family has a 2, 4, and 6 yr old. Another woman w/1.5 yr old. He tells the mom that as long as she attends her son definitely does not need to attend the hearing. Young children are exhausted and fell asleep in the courtroom.
One couple w/a child.
O'Connor: How old is your daughter Ma'am?
Father: 1 yr and 8 mo.
O'Connor: Do you answer to Ma'am?
The father apologizes to the judge. The judge repeats the question.
One family w/4 young boys - age 11, 8, 8, and 4. IJ tells parents children do not have to come to court.
Mom: We are in a shelter in Mexico and it is difficult for us and they are our responsibility.
IJ: Maybe you can be creative and find a babysitter.

IJ is warning respondents about notaries and fraudulent lawyers
IJ: Notaries are not lawyers. There are one or at least two Mexican attorneys that claim to represent people. One charged a family $3,500 and never showed up. I have seen him defraud three other families.

An MPP respondent speaks up, "We are in a program called MPP and it is difficult to hire an attorney because we are in Mexico. It is difficult to hire an attorney that specializes in that type of material."
IJ: Keep an extra copes of any documents.
@CargioliM: Many are robbed and their important docs are stolen
IJ: Make sure you never give away an important document in your case
IJ: Everyone here must provide me an address where to receive mail. Sooner or later you will have to get documents by mail
IJ: IF you do not provide an address, you can lose your rights or be removed
IJ: The government is not engaging in a minimum effort to provide an address

Yesterday we represented a mom & her toddler during an intrvw where she begged a @USCIS officer not to send her back to MX. During the 4 hr phone intvw, our client recounted two recent kidnapping attempts and said she lives in constant fear for their lives. #RestoreAsylumNOW
Throughout the interview you could hear her toddler, at times crying and sometimes talking, trying to get his mom’s attention. Our client bravely did her best to console, comfort, and entertain her baby while also carefully answering the officer’s adversarial questions.
At one point during the 4 hr phone interview, the child’s crying got louder and it was hard to hear mom’s responses to the officer’s questions. The Officer asked her to please quiet the child, and she said, “it’s really difficult to comfort him because I’m handcuffed.”

ImmDef Director @L_Toczylowski is back in the #MigrantPersecutionProtocols court in SD today. Despite the 9th Circuit finding the #MPP program illegal & dangerous, in the first courtroom we visit today there are 5 families appearing before IJ Simpson today. No one has an atty.
There are 5 families in this courtroom, all of them with little kids in tow. One little girl is playing w/ a teddy bear on the court bench. IJ Simpson is asking the families if they have have any questions. A women stands asks if her case can be joined w/ her children’s cases.
Stunning response: “well in a moment I am going to find that your charging document is defective and therefore you won’t have a case anymore to join with your kids’ cases. Any other questions?” He immediately moves into a group oral decision terminating there cases. #NoJustice

Back in #MigrantPersecutionProtocols court for the afternoon in San Diego, now switching to Judge Clemente’s courtroom. ImmDef Director @L_Toczylowski will be breaking down what is happening for everyone who can’t come witness this mockery of justice in person. #RestoreAslyumNOW
This courtroom is packed. There are a few lawyers here, including @CargioliM (ImmDef’s managing atty in San Diego), who is representing a family that includes 3 little girls, all with glittery bows in their hair and the two youngest girls (age 2 and 3) are wearing pink tutus.
With the help of @JFSSD, @ImmDef teamed up w/ @ThinkLawLab to do a quick KYR presentation for the many unrepresented families here. Like all of the triage lawyering we do for #MPP, this is woefully inadequate given that they are about to appear b4 a judge and lives are at stake.

#Thread So, I got on a fucking roll with writing today during my work date & I wrote 3,492 words. I finished the large body section & fleshed out the outline for the next one. It felt amazing. But in my writing high I didn’t take enough standing & stretching breaks! 😩
So I just got home from post-work date dinner & my body is wrecked. My lower back is flared up & my neck hurts. I for sure overdid it. Tonight I’m going to heavily medicate, but I have a feeling that tomorrow might have to be a read in bed day.
Honestly, I feel so good when I write right now. It really is an adrenaline rush, but I know that pacing myself is the way to sustainably finish this book while taking care of my bodymind. Just because I *can* work fast doesn’t mean I should.

Basic Rules for Swing Traders.

If the trade moves in your favor, carry it overnight–the odds favor follow-through. Expect to exit the next day around the objective point. An overnight gap presents an excellent opportunity to take profits.

Concentrating on only one entry or one exit per day relieves the pressure.

If your entry is correct, the market should move favorably almost immediately. It may come back to test and/or exceed your entry point a little, but that’s OK.

2/n..
Do not carry a losing position overnight. Exit and play for better position the next day.

A strong close indicates a strong opening the following day.
If the market doesn’t perform as expected, exit on the first reaction.

1 - SDNY provides Mueller with apolitical evidence sent from the target that predates all investigations.
2 - Proves Don Jr. met a Kremlin Agent
3 - Burns the Russian prosecution against @Billbrowder

Natalia Veselnitskaya had been working on the Prevezon case for years, but in 2014 she involved herself drafting of the official response to the DoJ's invocation of a treaty for legal assistance.

She sent the evidence that she worked with the Kremlin to SDNY prosecutors.
