Some poor takes on budget going around. 1) It is not profligate: future current balance still just in surplus (balance was Labour's target). What has happened is that government has finally understood plans to rapidly reduce debt make no sense when cost of borrowing stays low 1/3
2) Its not a Labour budget – it does raise some taxes from wealthy, but scale no where near Labour's plans, so budget is Labour very-lite 3) Budget is still in a world where climate change does not exist – fuel duty not increased despite fall in oil price. 2/3
4) Additional investment welcome but not enough to both level up and green the economy. 5) Does it end austerity? – Guardian article coming out soon. /end
