I love @suzanne_moore 's writing and i am overjoyed she has stood up.

@SarahbaxterSTM is right it is sickening that people are trying to get Suzanne kicked off of @guardian

But you know what, it still hurts that Sarah could not extend that same thought to an ordinary woman
When I lost my job, and when Judge Tayler decided that I should have no protection under the Equality Act for believing it is important to be able to say that sex exists ....

Sarah wrote in @thetimes that I am "a very rude person"

thetimes.co.uk/article/23e0f5…
While she calls the people trying to oust Suzanne from her job "anonymous cowards with pitchforks"

she said mine must have just been "more courteous" than me
Sarah said that my tweets shed more heat than light on the issue..... meanwhile misrepresenting my argument
And declining to apologise or correct

(despite there being no evidence that i was rude to anyone)

Maybe this was just a hasty column filed before Christmas ...?

Maybe Sarah hadn't fully understood what is going on back in December and now she has...?

Or maybe it was easier for her to give Suzanne Moore a fair hearing because she is part of her tribe, whereas I am a nobody
I am grateful for every single person in the public eye who stands up on this (@jk_rowling @Martina @AlisonMoyet @DuncanBannatyne @JosephMcGann @GaryLineker to name a few)

They give the rest of us some cover and give more people permission to think and to speak
Because is not just 'important' people who need protection to be able to speak the truth.

It is all of us

If you demand more 'niceness' from people who are less important (younger, female, less white, less Oxbridge etc..) then diversity is just box ticking
This is not an exhortation to be rude or mean. I generally try not to be.

I have taken on @SCynic1 's advice that it is often wiser to rage in private.

But trying to draw a line and allow some people to be punished for not being 'nice' lets them be victimised & shut up
Thats why #IStandWithKateScottow

She is appealing against a criminal conviction for being "annoying" on Twitter w 20 tweets over 6 months

She, like me, does not have the protection of celebrity or tenure.

Most people don't, thats why her case matters
