With lockdowns & quarantines: remember always freedom.

Be in solidarity with each other & our communities - always hold each other up.

Be aware of the state’s monopoly over power.

I am not saying jeopardize the health of the vulnerable. I am saying hold the state accountable

As we absorb the uncharted days and weeks ahead, I am holding in mind two thoughts that are in conflict:

- the monopoly that that state holds over power
- the need to be safe and healthy and flatten the curve

“This is for you own good” vs “This is for the good of the state.”

I am Egyptian and American. The presidents of both my countries understand each other.

Trump the US president calls Sisi the Egyptian President “my favourite dictator.”

For a reason.

I don’t know what the next two weeks hold for those of us on this side of the Atlantic.

Before I get angry yells of “This is for the good of the most vulnerable”: I KNOW!

I have been yelling at those who ignorantly defy a virus as if it were a terrorist. I am social distancing

I am teasing out here the tension between reckless and responsible.

I am determined to keep politicians on their toes because that’s where they belong.

You never get used to seeing tanks on the streets. You never should!

Thoughts to keep in mind.
