Whistleblowers are our government's eyes and ears on the ground. During a global pandemic, their voices are critical to oversight. A lack of test kits? Ventilators? Endangering federal employees or the public? Each whistleblower has a story to tell and the right to be heard. 1/5
This morning @GovAcctProj released a guide for federal workers seeking to speak truth to power. It's a free resource, and we're hoping it'll get into the hands of those who need it. No employee should ever feel gagged or unable to report wrongdoing. whistleblower.org/wp-content/upl… 2/5
Some whistleblowers are restricted to reporting through internal channels. Others can tell their stories straight to journalists and the public at large. Hopefully, this guide clarifies how workers can wrap themselves in their legal rights when blowing the whistle. 3/5
We're also aware of the many gaps in these protections. While we explain the gaps in the guide, we're working to expand and enhance protections from retaliation. Here's a petition any individual can sign to strengthen that effort: change.org/p/donald-j-tru… 4/5
Even if one federal worker sees this and chooses to say something when they see something, then this guide is a tremendous success. Thanks to @DanaLGold for leading this effort and to all the other staff whose work made this happen. 5/5
