£330 billion is a big, reassuring number.

But if the funding is put forward with so many strings attached that nobody will avail themselves of it, that £330 billion is entirely fictitious.

Like the sub £100,000 paid to Windrush victims out of a compensation pot of £570 million.
Or the mere £50,000 handed out from the £150 million pot that formed part of the relief for properties with dangerous cladding like the type on Grenfell Tower.
