Thread: California is under extreme threat from this virus. Everything our gov't has been doing for the last decade has weakened us to an incredibly frightening degree. Prop 47 released thousands of criminals into the streets & where do they go? Nowhere. They stay in the streets
You can't even arrest someone who is stealing less than $950 worth of goods if they're doing it right in front of a police officer. Homeless encampments are everywhere. Human urine and feces...everywhere. Diseases like typhus have already broken out
The state provides needles for the drug addicts who make up 99% of our homeless & where do those needles end up? In the streets. Where they get stepped on or reused. Homeless line the streets of LA and San Francisco and now almost everywhere.
Tents are set up on sidewalks and in parks. Where do these ppl pee, poop, throw their waste, vomit? Right where they are. Who cleans it up? Business owners and residents, except now no one, bc everyone is on some kind of "quarantine" schedule.
The law says residents & biz owners are not even allowed to put planters or any obstructions in front of their buildings to prevent homeless encampments bc it is "discriminatory". The law says you can't clear their things or remove blockage from vital safety paths.
The law says these people can't be arrested or forced in to healthcare. The law says the police can do nothing but ticket taxpayers for taking their own measures to protect themselves. The streets of CA are festering with human tragedy but @GavinNewsom just creates more, not less
Our healthcare system is overwhelmed with heaping piles of red tape. Furthermore, #AB5 came along & gutted the system, killing the jobs of respiratory therapists &nurses who contract. Those ppl didn't get "hired" somewhere. They're simply sitting at home while the world burns
They have the knowledge & means to help at a time when it is all hands on deck, yet @LorenaSGonzalez -the bill's author - is so dedicated to her union overlords that she'd rather watch half the population become infected than simply lift a bad law
We have a bloated administrative system but everything is strained at the service level. The progressive utopia of California has always been horrible but now we are seeing close up and tragically that this experiment has failed...and ppl will die bc of that
@drdrew has been sounding the alarm on this for at least a year. He's been warning that an outbreak among the homeless population could be dire for the general CA population. His predictions are coming true, w/Newsome saying half the population might become infected
The abject disaster that is California gov't cannot stand as is. When this is over we HAVE to take account and clean house. God bless us until we can do that.
