A HISTORY THAT MUST BE KNOWN TO ALL

Every year, in the month of Asadha( June-July) when summer is at its peak, the deity prabhu Jagannath & his siblings Balabhadra & devi Subhadra step out for a cooling bath unable to bear the heat inside the temple.

A #JanataCurfew special

This happens on #SnanaPurnima.when you bathe in 108 pots of ice cold well water under blazing sun, you fall ill.

They catch fever and cold.

◆ In this time of illness, they are kept in QUARANTINE which is called ANASARA GHARA in the language of the temple.

◆ The Gods and Goddess are kept in solitude i.e. ISOLATION for 14 days.

◆ During this period of ISOLATION, darshan of the Deities is closed and water of herbs is given to the Deities in the diet i.e. liquid diet.

This tradition has been going on for thousands of years.

In the twentieth century, the Westerners are teaching us that the time of Isolation & Quarantine should be 14 days. But we knew this from thousands of years.

They can teach us like this because we ourselves think that Hinduism is an unscientific religion full of superstition.

What our ancestors knew from thousands of years ago, is being taught to us today by westerners.
