Dear @UKLabour NEC,
Thank you for taking the time out of a deadly global pandemic and a country-wide lockdown to reject my membership application at 1:51am on a Tuesday morning.

I hope you appreciate my response.

TLDR:
Labour rejected my application for telling the Dems/Greens that my joining was the best thing I could do to help them.

a) That doesn't mean it was my main reason for joining.
b) What's the FIRST THING Labour will say in any electoral pact negotiation? "This will help you"!
Oh and to the people saying now's not the time:

You are the same as the people telling me now's not the time to talk about Brexit when the deadline for the negotiations is in July!
Only with Labour, the deadline for the Leadership elections votes is still in NINE DAYS!

Boris Johnson has Coronavirus. 😱
He did say to wash hands before shaking, but the story he just described (generous interpretation) is:
He didn't have corona.
Washed his hands.
"shook hands with everybody" inc patients with Covid, potentially spreading it to those without.
Washed hands as he left the hospital.
So as this happened 24 days ago, it is highly unlikely that this is when Boris Johnson contracted the disease.
All it shows is that by his own admission, he may have contributed to its spread, both directly and by condoning handshaking.

Next time we plan to shut down pubs & clubs to prevent the spread of a deadly disease, maybe announce it on a Monday? Or even a Wednesday?
Instead of basically saying "Hey everyone! Tonight's your last chance to PARTTAAAY! Get out there & **** Everything!"

Which is precisely what I expected would happen but didn't want to phrase it like that in case I made it worse.
People had been calling for Boris Johnson to ban commercial gatherings for a while, just as many other countries had done.

The announcement could and should have come long before Friday.

Are we so used to the Tories doing things which to the best of their knowledge (as informed by their experts) will harm people.... that Rishi Sunak does something objectively good for people (sufficient or not), we start a religion around him?
You think I'm being harsh/ uncalled for?

Last I checked we're still heading for a potential No-Deal in December and Rishi Sunak refused to rule it out in the most dishonest way.
So while he may be helping the economy now, he's part of a government that...
I fully support the measures Rishi Sunak announced today in light of #StayHome.
People need it.
But if we act like all is OK because the Tories are feeding us with one hand, even though they're winding up to punch us with the other in December, we're going to go full Stockholm.

I have rebranded, because I am getting closer to officially launch the @SecularMaldives Foundation. A lot of surprises in store with the project, I promise the wait will be worth it.
Getting this off the ground is a monumental task, hence the delay since the announcement of the foundation.

Some of the things we are attempting to do haven't been done before. There was no model that we could wholesale lift off somewhere else and implement.
For context, I am working off the hypothesis that for change to happen and to be meaningful, we have to change the people.

I made mention awhile back that I held constitutional objections to the Medicare For All proposals that periodically come up. It's a complex topic, so it took me a couple weeks to put this together into a (hopefully) coherent argument, but at last, here it is. #m4a
The wide range of concerns around Medicare For All has resulted in these being pretty muddy waters, so for the sake of holding a focused discussion, let's just assume that, with the exception of constitutionality, all other concerns have been satisfactorily assuaged.
In other words, I don't want to get sidetracked by whether or not M4A would cause stagnation in medical advancements, lower incentives to enter the field, suffer from too many bureaucratic inefficiencies, etc.

Let's just assume that, if implemented, it's a guaranteed success.
