Good article. I remain appalled by the idea that we should just loosen restrictions.

Trump wants ‘the country opened,’ but easing coronavirus restrictions now would be disastrous, experts say washingtonpost.com/health/2020/03…
2/ There are ways in which we could loosen restrictions, but we don't seem to be taking any of the steps that we'd need to take to make them possible.

Widespread testing. Ramping up the capacity of hospitals in a much more serious way. But we haven't done any of those things.
3/ Absent those preparations, and a lot more care than this administration has shown so far, lifting the restrictions just means a lot of deaths and no recovery.

I'm appalled anyone is thinking of it.
4/ One more thing: remember, a decade or so ago, when everyone was going on about The Greatest Generation, and how we will never see their likes again?

I thought that was a bit overdone at the time. But TGG really did fight incredibly hard for what they thought was right.
5/ Watching people seriously debate whether we should let an enormous number of people die because, after ONE WHOLE WEEK, we are tired of social distancing, I suddenly see the point of all those complaints about how wimpy we all are.
6/ The thing is, many of the same people who were going on about soft wimpy us as compared to firm resolute them are the ones who are so quick to fold.
