The policy by @MaimonidesMC and other hospitals to shut out companions of patients adds to the stress on staff, patients and their families. It also creates strife between all sides and it leads to a deterioration of health for patients. This needs to be cleaned up ASAP!
Blocking out companions is a mess. Staff are making life/death decisions without asking family. I heard today of a case (first hand once removed) that staff from a hospital called the family 12 midnight; asked for a yes/no and click. BTW see this petition: change.org/p/governer-and…
Many thousands of patients in NY/NJ hospitals do not have a companion to thier side. This adds anxiety to patients when they need calm/rest, and it adds stress on hospital staff. It is a net-loss of a policy. cc @MarkLevineNYC @NYGovCuomo @GovMurphy @GNYHA
Correct. @GNYHA has the influence to guide hospitals to implement policies that work for staff, patients and family. The current system does not work.

Cuomo said early last week he expects apex in NY to be in 14-21 days (April 6-13). At that point he said NY will need 125K beds for Coronavirus including 30K ICU. Hopsitals are stretched thin as is so stay home and distance/gloves when out. But needing 30,000 ICU beds all at once
on April 6, means the following added ICU usages per day:

500 on 3/28 (3K total)

1,000 on 3/29 (4K total)

1,500 on 3/30 (5,500)

2,000 on 3/31 (7,500)

2,500 on 4/1 (10K)

3,000 on 4/2 (13K)

3,500 on 4/3 (16,500)

4,000 on 4/4 (20,500)

4,500 on 4/5 (25K)

5,000 on 4/6 (30K)
NY had 2,037 ICU Coronavirus cases by 3/28; not 3,000 and they are not all at once. Also, the ICU count in NY went up by

172 on 3/27

282 on 3/28.

This is way slower than what was anticipated a week ago even with a lockdown. Again, some NY hospitals are melting but this is

At this point they should stop using the fake “14 days” to x and 14 days to that. It is a made up baseline per all the extended guidelines that I am seeing. 14 days ago BDB/Cuomo announced school closures; non essential closures are going into their 8th day in 82 minutes.
Trump said today 3/29 that the peak Coronavirus in the US is expected to be in two weeks which is Sunday April 12 but to be on the safe side he wants the CDC guidelines active until April 30 (per Fauci’s recommendation). But we are repeatedly told that from exposure to symptoms
can take up to 14 days and another week until hospital. This means that cases in 2 weeks from now is based on distancing that took place March 22 through today. If so, Dr. Fauci could have suggested to “open up” by April 15 or even sooner. No? I am using THEIR math! Blame them!

Hey @paulkrugman. This chart does not show that the US has processed more tests than most counties; hence the steep rise in known US cases compared to other countries. BTW Japan/Korea erc does not have anywhere close to the US-style shutdowns. Trump wants to open. You with him?
.@paulkrugman Your tweet that claims the US is doing worse than other countries has a chart which shows a steep rise in the US (thanks to a rise in testing that you ignore), and it shows some countries flatlining (those who keep test count steady and/or don’t have lockdowns.
So what is your plan @paulkrugman: The US should slow down testing or the US should “open up” like some of the flat lined counties have done? (Actually, they never shutdown the way NY/NJ have). Either troll like a pro or give good plans. You have done neither at this time. Sad.

Hospitals should acquire quality COVID-19 IgG test kits, and do free testing for people.

People with confirmed COVID-19 antibodies can then donate most of their PPE stockpile to those hospitals.
Hospitals currently overrun by COVID-19 patients are also in the BEST position to figure out the quality of COVID-19 IgM/IgG test kits, in terms of false positive and false negative rates,

because they have a large number of known patients (those recovering) with IgG/IgM
The biggest issue for me to find 3rd-party review data on IgG test kits from China is that most provinces either run out of current patients (IgM) or recovered patients (IgG) have dispersed (i.e. hard to track down)

#Policy response 1st principles in waging #waronCOVID19. In order of priority:

1. @KKMPutrajaya ‘s recommendations always come first. If they say continue the #MCO , so be it.
2. Plan for triage, treatment (3-6 mnths) and recovery horizons. Adjust as new data emerge (1/n)
3a. Figure out how to ensure food and medical #supplychains stay intact. This means the whole chain, not just the parts you think you know. Blanket ex-ante approval for main supplier and their vendors, then devote time and resources to enforcement, not approval (2/n)
3b. Take care of the frontliners - their needs come first
3c. Take care of the most vulnerable - you can’t just announce allocations and not figure out assistance delivery end-to-end; disbursement, procurement, to the last mile. Plug social welfare gaps NOW (3/n)

Three factors cause #stress most of the time:

1) Novelty - When we deal with new, unfamiliar stuff like new place, new skill etc, we get stress. This is good because the minor stress causes us to stay alert sharpening our attention.
Next 2 are more relevant for a trader/investor
2) Uncertainty - An investor deals with uncertainty all the time. It's a multi variate field and meteors keep falling from outer space. It's uncertainty, more than the actual break out of bad news that's stressful most of the time.
3) Lack of control - Notice the stress you have when you are a pillion rider on a bike, or a parachute. Or, when you think you own a potential multi-bagger stock, and it keeps falling. Or, when you have to catch a flight and you're suck in a traffic
