1/21: CDC “The current risk from this virus to the general public is low” and “for a family sitting around the dinner table tonight this is not something that they generally need to worry about.” 1/
1/26:“While this is a serious public health threat,CDC continues to believe immediate risk to U.S. general public is low at this time. For general public, no additional precautions are recommended at this time beyond simple daily precautions that everyone should always take.”
1/27: “However, currently in the U.S., this virus is not spreading in the community. For that reason, we continue to believe that the immediate health risk from the new virus to the general American public is low currently.”
1/30: “I want to echo the statements that Dr. Redfield has already shared and emphasize that the risk to the general public in Illinois remains low. This person-to-person spread was between two very close contacts, a wife and husband.
