Seeing this discussion, thought of doing a short #tweetorial on the lung #POCUS scan zones I've come across. Some of them (like 24-zone method) have been utilized to study lung congestion in #dialysis patients

Did my fellows' curriculum lecture today, "Images in #Nephrology"
Thought of sharing the slides as a tweetorial. Goal is to present some 'classic' images that aid in kidney-related diagnoses. Not exhaustive; plan to make 2nd part as well.

What is an "HLA"?

HLAs = cell surface proteins encoded by highly polymorphic major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes on Ch 6 🧬

In #transplantation, HLA proteins are #polymorphic antigens ➡️ alloreactive trigger for the immune response ➡️ can ultimately lead to organ #rejection ☠️
3/ The 2 primary classes of MHC molecules are 1⃣ and 2⃣.

Class 1⃣ MHC are found on the cell surface of ALL nucleated cells + platelets. Their role is to present intracelleular peptide fragments to CD8 #Tcells

If we want to use evidence to make decisions, the first step is to describe the problem. And the first step in describing the problem is to count how often it happens.
If we want to decide how to spend money to prevent the most death, counting deaths from shark bites & mosquito bites is a good place to start.

As Bill Gates did, we’ll find the number of mosquito bite deaths is much higher! Mosquitos are probably a good place to spend our money!
