It took a worldwide public health crisis to humble some of yall. We've been telling you for years people are suffering. And now everyone including your conservative friends has their hands out for a bailout or a covid test because you realized your humanity is at risk too.
Your prideful ego won't let you admit that trickle down economics bullshit don't work. You're being exposed for the years of oppressive policies that you know never were designed to work. Only to pad your pockets for profit while decimating the working class.
What profit a man to gain the whole world and to lose his soul? A bunch of out-of-touch politicians and greedy corporate execs have sold their sole to the devil in the name of capitalism.
Your privilege and money can't protect you from this one. Maybe that's what he meant by "people are dying who haven't died before." Smh. Poor folks suffer and it's okay. Helping regular people gets push back to the tune of "how're we gonna pay for it?"
But all of a sudden it's justified to give a stimulus to corporations and the same people who ridicule the poor when they ask for a handout. Is it time to start coining big corporations as the Welfare Queens, yet? I'll wait.
Y'all wanna tell us to pull ourselves by our bootstraps and save for a rainy day, but let two weeks of no revenue come thru and y'all begging for a bailout. What happened to free markets? Supply and demand? Oh that's right, y'all spent the last bailout on your stock options.
Don't tell me what's not possible. Whole families are out here dying but Medicare for all or even Medicaid expansion is a bridge too far. No folks may not want a revolution but damn give us a government that fights for what's right with no questions asked.
Real patriotism looks out for the common good and the least of these. And I'm not talking about that fake flag carrying kind to cloak yourselves in racism.
I hope when the rest of us who are battled-tested survivors come out of this, a new power rises that leads with empathy, love, selflessness and moral conviction. Just as you see what chaos you've caused, I hope the rest of us remember these days come November 3rd.
I hope old ways die and new millionaires are formed. I hope our "new normal" teaches us and humbles us that we *can* and deserve nice things. Health is wealth and we all deserve it.
