I'm so confused by all of these "the data aren't as bad as it seems" framed tweets by @natesilver, primarily bc the data IS really bad. The data story remains terrible. And last I checked, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland were in Europe.
I'll concede the point that the UK is a shit show- but that's bc the UK did what the Red states are doing here- tried to power through for the sake of avoiding economic disruption until it became clear it was a terrible strategy. And bc they are a country w/o states, Johnson set
the national policy. Here, rational governors were able to go around the federal policy, which was being driven by ideological goals, to adhere to the advice being offered by public health officials. That's why CA looks like this & FL like that 
Once Johnson figured out his ideology about govn't was going to kill a lot of people he pulled a full 180- & I do mean a full 180. He's now doing all the things a normal leader would do (Trump is not) w medical supply acquisition & distribution & they have the NIH, so I won't be
