It is also important to see how a well coordinated response through integrative orchestration by the @PrinSciAdvGoI in all fronts is crucial esp #Taskforce such as #DrugRepurposing, democratising #FaceMasks & raising awareness & contact #App @himdaughter

this crisis has shown the strengths we have & also the deep gaps that still exist. We need to increase our long term #investments in R&D as well as overall expenditure in #healthcare frm current levels

we still are a "land of prototypes" & we have to transition (& transition fast) into "land of real products". Invstmt of 50lakh-3crore in #startups will take us this far & no further, unfortunately. We need to invest deep & broad. Create a "national bio-innovation grid"

We've to further strengthen our #translational #inst namely @THSTIFaridabad @CSIR_IND labs (our primary translational agency) incl @csir_ncl, @IndiaDST labs #SCTIMST @CeNSEatIISc @ICMRDELHI. The grid also has to connect our #startups to #bigindustry & #research insts & #vendors

besides defining our #NationalStandards, we've to massively activate #indigenization of Indian #medtech #manufacturing esp for our #SMEs & recharge “Make in India mantra in #medtech for #manufacturers. The mantra is “localise, localise, localise” @MiIAiMeD @MolbioDx @nanduperfint

We need a new #BIRAC like org focused on #medtech #translation connecting our clinical infra to our #manufacturing infra. This new org can be under the aegis of @ICMRDELHI with support from @GoI_MeitY @BIRAC_2012 @IndiaDST @NITIAayog @investindia @drharshvardhan @nsitharaman

We can't miss this opportunity for @ICMRDELHI to kickstart a medtech focused translational unit to scale. It is best placed to drive such a org since it has dense connections to almost all stakehldrs esp @MoHFW_INDIA &clinicalinfra, #DCGI & #manufacturers @ProfBhargava @mohdameel

the vibrancy in #medtech ecosystem has to be leveraged for the nxt leap & the time is indeed now!
