Recently re-read x2 #books that seem pretty consequential to modern day news cycles 📚

- #JohnPerkins #ConfessionsOfAnEconomicHitman

- #BillBrowder #RedNotice

Both began their careers for #Boston based consulting co's

#Boston #USA is part of that #IvyLeague playground 🧐

#MIT & #Harvard are in close proximity - Like #Oxford & #Cambridge in the UK (those prestigious institutions also synonymous with producing spy's & leaders)!

Perkins worked for #ChasTMain
Browder for #BostonConsultingGroup

If you look at geo-political history from 1980's - today... These two fella's have really played their part!!

Both books are great by the way... well worth a read!

- #BillBrowder = #US #Russia #UK #EU ... possibly the world!? 🌐

Both could be classed as #EconomicHitmen too!

It's a term that seems hyperbolic #Hollywood - I know!

When I first read #JohnPerkins book I really enjoyed it BUT thought... no way!

Was only when a couple of better informed friends of mine confirmed some of it, I thought - WTF!

There are a few global trends at play today & they can trace back to much of what is contained in these 📚;

- #Technology & 💰
- #Individualism #Democracy #Info🤳

@davetroy has just written a brilliant series that gives a historical arc & explains the creep of things like #Trump #Jan6th #Insurection #Brexit

It's bonkers & a head-spin, I know!

But don't tell me you haven't at some point in the last few years thought

If you want to understand 📺 headlines today, ge-politics, sport... fuck, even celebrity! These books are worth a read.

By no means will they provide a full picture that will give the reader a clear picture of the way the world works and where we're going BUT they do offer an 🧐

Yep, celebrity & sports!

It's bonkers...

#SportsWashing & Celebrity endorsement are increasingly used as tools in global power games #worldorder

@Prof_Chadwick does great work on this...

and to the point of my original tweet about #JohnPerkins & #BillBrowder - They are two characters (in a cast of 1000's) that have had outsized influence in the way the world works today & how the global headlines link 📺

We're living through changing times - Subtle & Hot 💪🥊💰

As for the second book #RedNotice by #BillBrowder - That has global ramifications in the shape of #MagninskyAct #sanctions 💸

His story is incredible & a lot of it easily verifiable - To me, there are a few small shades of grey though

Ultimate in #CancelCulture #Power Groups 💪

And if anyone is slightly interested in the thread ⬆️ ... has maybe read those books (or is considering looking at them), I would recommend this as perfect end to a trilogy / thriller series!
