1/11 Just for 1 minute, put acute #COVID & #LongCovid to one side.

How exactly do those in the #DfE, #UsForThem, #CRG & the #HartGroup intend to protect children from more educational disruption w/ a highly contagious virus whirling its way through schools across the UK?

2/The ongoing educational damage done by CHOOSING NOT to adequately & effectively mitigate for an #airborne virus w/in UK schools (English esp) was completely avoidable.

IT WAS (& CONTINUES TO BE) A CHOICE, sanctioned by Gvmt AND a mostly complicit media.

3/ Our political leaders chose to follow a THEORETICAL #HerdImmunity “strategy” with a novel virus which RELIED ON unmitigated spread within young, fit parts of society & FACTORED IN that sadly some of those would also become seriously ill or die.

4/ Saying that out loud still makes me shudder!
But again, putting the physical & psychological effects of #COVID19 on individual pupils, staff & their families aside, @GavinWilliamson, @educationgovuk, @NickGibbUK & @halfon4harlowMP CHOSE to leave schools as human petri-dishes.

5/They CHOSE to make it as exceptionally hard for school children to remain IN SCHOOL as much as possible.
The decision not to invest in improving #Ventilation, use CO2 monitors, extra spaces & outdoor spaces to learn etc will leave educational scars for years, for some forever.

6/ And the removal of the #MasksInClass mandate on May 17th was a stroke of genius in a #HerdImmunity
#COVID19UK experiment.
Combined w/ the failure to have effective border controls we have now set a course for much more human suffering.
A masterclass in pandemic management!

7/ And even for those of the #antimask #antilockdown “Just let us be free” persuasion it must surely be obvious now, just how damaging these decisions & the resulting continuing disruption is for an entire generation.

The UK #SchoolsScandal is a disgrace!

8/ @10DowningStreet & @educationgovuk MUST fully acknowledge that #COVIDisAirborne & #ReinstateMasksInClass.
Another school yr is finishing whilst they have kept their fingers in their ears despite repeated advice for experts, scientists & medics, & pleas from desperate parents.

9/ If I was a member of @UsforThemUK @hartgroup_org or the #CRG, I’d be mortified that the actions of these groups has resulted in unquantifiable ill health & unnecessary deaths in those connected to schools AND damaged the education of millions of children IN THEIR NAME!

10/ Parents & staff - you have every right to feel hugely disappointed & extremely angry that those who have repeatedly claimed to care about the welfare of children have in fact USED THEM to undermine vital public health measures AND caused AVOIDABLE chaos in schools as well.

11/ It is not hard to understand - #COVIDisAirborne #MasksSaveLives & #VentilationMatters A LOT!
