Molly, Julia & @UsforThemUK - Let’s put the physical risks of #COVID19 & #LongCovid to individual children & adolescents to one side for a moment.

2/ And let’s also ignore the devastating effect on any child, of a close family member having serious #COVID19, #LongCovid or dying from #COVID.

3/ And for completeness let’s just forget that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US wants to “get back to normal” & for the final restrictions to be safely eased…..

LET’S FOCUS SOLELY ON EDUCATION!

4/ Yesterday there were >10,000 confirmed cases, MANY of whom were children.

THAT IS A FACT!

Numerous schools have outbreaks & many thousands of children are isolating AGAIN, missing f2f education for a 2nd or 3rd time.

5/ HOW do you expect TRANSMISSION to be kept low & EDUCATION to be protected WITHOUT the use of #MasksInClass & in the absence of any meaningful mitigations to an #Airborne 🦠within UK schools?

6/ Crowded, poorly ventilated, indoor spaces where unmasked ppl from multiple households mix ARE HIGH RISK.

THAT IS ALSO A FACT!

Please could you explain HOW you intend to prevent further educational disruption, which we all know affects disadvantaged children the most.

7/ Families with CV/CEV children/members are being put in an incredibly difficult position where they are forced to balance the risks to health & education AND have added threats of fines etc.

WHY are they not being considered in your discussions about educational disruption?

8/ I’m genuinely keen to understand how you propose to keep children SAFELY LEARNING IN SCHOOL as cases of the highly transmissible #DeltaVariant ⬆️.

That’s what parents & staff want, what educationalists & HCPs want - it is indeed WHAT WE ALL WANT!

9/ The facts remain that #COVIDisAirborne.

Schools currently have virtually NO EFFECTIVE MITIGATIONS & #coronavirus can spread incredibly easily to families & communities, causing morbidity, mortality AND hugely damaging effects on education.

10/ We owe it to the children of this country to leave no stone unturned in aiming for #SafeEdForAll!
