In my live interview for national evening show on Canada Corus/@globalnews radio network, I said that social media provide a lot of wishful thinking concerning #RussiaUkraineWar. This applies to Western-dominated Twitter & Facebook & to Russian-dominated Telegram & Vkontakte 1/
@globalnews My assessment is based on my research concerning #RussiaUkraineWar and and other wars, such as war in #Donbas, second Chechen war & #Russia-Georgia war, and media coverage of these wars. 2/
Putin’s statements suggest that he invaded #Ukraine in order to implement regime change from pro-Western state to pro-Russian or at least neutral state. My analysis suggests that Ukraine is in very difficult situation because #Russia has significant military advantage. 3/
Russian & separatist forces already took control over most of #Donbass in its borders before Donbas war in 2014. They try to capture encircled #Mariupol & encircle #Ukrainian forces in Donbas. #Russian forces apparently plan to encircle #Kyiv & #Kharkiv but not capture them. 4/
Peaceful resolution of #RussiaUkraineConflict would likely entail acceptance by #Zelensky of main Putin’s demands. They include neutrality, demilitarization, “denazification,” #Russian as 2d state language & recognition of Russian annexation of Crimea & Donbas independence. 5/
#Zelensky already conceded to #Russian demand of neutrality. But he can only accept #Crimea annexation & #Donbas independence demands if #Russia would continue its advance. Acceptance of Russian demands by Zelensky could lead to his removal in #Ukraine. 6/ #UkraineWar#Ukrainians
#Putin threatened that failure to accept these demands would mean capitulation or even end of #Ukrainian state. 7/
#Russian demands to #Ukraine: "first four demands are, according to Mr Kalin, not too difficult for Ukraine to meet. Chief among them is an acceptance by Ukraine that it should be neutral and should not apply to join Nato." #Zelensky "conceded this"" 1/ bbc.com/news/world-eur…
#Russian demands to #Ukraine to end #UkraineWar : "Ukraine would have to undergo a disarmament process to ensure it wasn't a threat to Russia. There would have to be protection for the Russian language in Ukraine. And there is something called de-Nazification." #Russia 2/
"The second category is where the difficulty will lie, and in his phone call, Mr Putin said that it would need face-to-face negotiations between him and President Zelensky before agreement could be reached on these points. Mr Zelensky has already said he's prepared to meet." 3/
"Ukraine and Russia have made significant progress on a tentative 15-point peace plan including a ceasefire and Russian withdrawal if Kyiv declares neutrality and accepts limits on its armed forces, according to three people involved in the talks." 1/ ft.com/content/7b341e…
"The proposed deal, which Ukrainian and Russian negotiators discussed.., would involve Kyiv renouncing its ambitions to join Nato and promising not to host foreign military bases or weaponry in exchange for protection from allies such as the US, UK and Turkey, the people said" 2/
#Ukraine president office head adviser re deal: "troops of the Russian Federation in any case leaving the territory of Ukraine” captured since the invasion began on February 24 — namely southern regions along the Azov and Black Seas & territory to the east and north of Kyiv. 3/
"Russia has offered a "final" version of its offer to end the crisis, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky needs to accept or decline... Putin ordered his forces to halt ... in order to wait for Zelensky's decision, the sources said." 1/ #Ukrainejpost.com/international/…
#Zelensky "will have to pay a heavy price, the sources said. Assumptions are that he will be forced to give up the contested Donbas region, officially recognize the pro-Russian dissidents in Ukraine, pledge that Ukraine will not join NATO, shrink his army and declare neutrality."
This new map of #RussiaUkraineWar is most detailed & most consistent with my analysis of videos & reports concerning specific locations that were seized by #Russian & #Donbas separatist forces in #Ukraine
I have similar impression of #RussiaUkraineWar representations in media and social media which are dominated by info warriors, politicians and self-proclaimed experts.
I said in my China Newsweek interview that #RussianUkrainianWar wasn't inevitable & could have been prevented by Russia, Ukraine & US. Russia launched illegal war of choice based on false claims of NATO accession, genocide, nuclear weapons development & Nazis in power in #Ukraine
#Zelensky failed to prevent escalation of #Ukraine-#Russia conflict into devastating war by denying that possibility of Russian invasion was real, as I noted in my interviews & publications. He abandoned Minsk agreement & election promises & pursued unrealistic NATO membership.
Western countries could have prevented #Ukraine-#Russia war by offering Ukraine EU membership prospect in exchange for neutrality & implementation of Minsk agreement. They backed violent Ukraine government overthrow that started conflict & could had escalated into war in 2014.
This is another indication that the US would block any peace deal to end the Russia-Ukraine war and that they treat Ukraine and Ukrainians just as tools to fight Russia.
"Various hawks care little about the potentially disastrous consequences of an escalation of armed hostilities for Ukraine and ordinary Ukrainians. They regard Ukraine only as a tool for geopolitical goals—in particular, the containment of Russia..." canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…
