I'll start with a couple of curious updates from stories which broke yesterday...
First the case of one of #Russia's richest men who gave up his citizenship saying he couldn't be a part of a fascist country.
But Oleg Tinkov, who now lives in London, has since deleted this post
Next I am concerned about what's happening to the ships which left #Ukraine's ports yesterday despite #Russia suspending its agreement in grain export.
A flotilla of grain-laden vessels seem to have all turned off transponders, either continuing incognito or anchored off 🇺🇦coast
Today sees the new draft for #Russia's army, with newly signed up soldiers supposedly guaranteed not to be sent to #Ukraine.
Meanwhile the forcibly mobilised continue to be well treated! 100s in #Chita were kicked out of a camp into the freezing cold when the Governor visited:
Meanwhile in the very far east of #Russia, more complaints about mobilisation.
This report from Primorye says 3 times more people are mobilised than official figures suggest. Many wives and mothers also complain about illegal call-ups:
Of course #Ukraine is already under attack again this morning.
In #Poltava the Head of the region, Dmytro Lunin says three drones have been shot down. However some locals report explosions which seemed more than air defences, and a fire has broken out on the ground:
In occupied #Kherson, looks like there's another attack on #Russia's police by The Resistance.
The invaders' parking lot at a police station in the north of the city is ablaze. Several vehicles have been destroyed with frequent blasts, presumably from fuel tanks:
In yesterday's thread I showed a video of a mass brawl involving new forcibly mobilised soldiers in #Kemerovo. Now news of another conflict in #Novosibirsk
Anger between local recruits & troops from Tuva, more fighting and now refusal to stay in #Berdsk
A horrible tale from #Kharkiv where a man, his pregnant wife and 4 year old daughter all died.
Police say the 47-year-old man took part of a Russian shell into his yard in #Loziv. He detonated the device (presumably accidentally) and the whole family died.
I was speculating in a chat here yesterday that #Russia used so many missiles in the past week because they knew replacements would soon arrive from #Iran
IAEA experts will tomorrow finish their inspection of #Ukraine nuclear sites where #Russia alleged they're making a dirty bomb. A report is expected to be published Thurs or Fri.
Meanwhile the #Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant is operating again after a landmine explosion there Sunday
The blaze is at a construction market in "New Moscow" - a special development area south of the centre. It covered 150 sq.m and has now been contained.
This news could be viewed as a similar sort of invented story that "allowed" #Russia to invade #Ukraine.
The Deputy Head of #Belarus' KGB, Ivan Tertel reportedly saying "The US 101st Airborne Division, which is planning to invade, has already arrived in Poland."
I'm already think this is hype without real substance.
No other reports or chat but I cannot get hold of my contact in the #Kherson region. Just one Telegram channel. Let's stand this down until further info.
You know the format for the daily thread by now - all the news and analysis, throughout the day. And if you missed anything yesterday, take a peek here:
I saw this photo a few days ago on a busy day, so worth highlighting now. It really is remarkable the standard of some of #Ukraine's longer term bases created, and this isn't the only one just for the cameras.
A new week begins and a bit of a landmark day in #Russia's war as we reach Day 250.
This is the start of the 250th daily thread, with accurate news from #Ukraine. It's still strangely quiet so far, but if you missed yesterday's updates, here's the link:
#Ukraine's state energy company tells civilians there will be no quick end to power cuts.
Indeed, residents are warned rationing will continue throughout winter and may get worse if #Russia's strikes continue.
People are urged to always have essentials/power banks etc charged.
Day 2️⃣4️⃣8️⃣
Here is the daily #Ukraine news thread for Saturday 29 October, documenting the important news around #Russia's war of choice on its neighbour.

Yesterday #Russia declared mobilisation finished with 300,000 poor souls forcibly called up.
But wait... a Russian 'war blogger' quoting 🇷🇺 MOD sources says the real figure of frontline fodder is 700,000
And the only reason they paused drafting is because of lack of transport!
Having listened to all of #Putin's speech yesterday, it was clear his intention was to portray the US (and allies) as aggressors, and how #Russia only wanted peace.
The world's heard this before.
Putin playing games, seeing how long he can copy his hero
