#Russia's losses much lower today across the board. That reflects the lack of missile attacks, Russians moving equipment out of reach to #Crimea and fighting only on the eastern front.
But noteworthy that I now consider 400 killed soldiers as a lower total.
A variety of methods used by #Russia to attack #Ukraine today.
Among them, fighter jets which took off from #Belarus. They carried Kinzhal missiles, which are difficult for air defences to intercept.
#Ukraine "risks losing support and credibility" some analysts say after President Zelenskyy reiterated the country's stance that the missile which hit #Poland was NOT a Ukrainian air defence rocket
The FT today quotes a member of the US team saying Zelenskyy is lying.
The "grain deal" has been extended for 4 months.
#Ukraine has asked for the deal to be for a whole year and for the port of #Mykolaiv to be included in the agreement. They're waiting for a reply:
As expected more and more details and evidence of #Russia's war crimes coming to light in #Kherson now, and they've only liberated half of the region 😢
"No blame can be attached to Ukraine even if the missile which landed in #Poland did come from them... we will stand with Ukraine against Russia's criminal actions."
Thank you Machiel Groeneveld for being a great supporter and buying me a coffee this morning 💙💛
This morning's missile attack on #Ukraine saw just two cities hit - #Odesa and #Dnipro.
Air defence systems continued their good ratio of success with many cities untouched. That includes #Kyiv where military chiefs say 4 missiles and 5 "Shahed" (Kamikaze) drones were destroyed.
Here's another recording of the moment a Russian missile landed in #Ukraine earlier.
#Russia is not happy about this.
One Paralympic swimmer complains of double standards that "no European athletes were banned when Yugoslavia was bombed" - he forgets to add about massacres, genocide and war crimes being committed there which were stopped.
#Ukraine's President @ZelenskyyUa offers to allow transit of Russian ammonia if #Russia agrees to a complete exchange of Prisoners of War on both sides.
Furthermore Ze said he is ready to negotiate "if Russia withdraws and admits that what it has done is a tragedy"
#Zaporizhzhia (#Zaporozhye):
The Iskra complex, which produces electronic components for the repair of radars and MLRS.
In its morning briefing, #Russia's MoD also claims it has taken full control of the road between #Pavlivka and #Nikolske in #Donetsk region.
Unable to verify this and obviously Moscow has frequently exaggerated its military achievements in #Ukraine
Ukrainians have been warned today by one of the Energy chiefs that the situation is so dire in #Ukraine that future "power timetables" may have to show the times when electricity will be working and not when it is scheduled to be switched off.
Of course none of the 3 guilty is behind bars, protected by #Russia. They were sentenced in-absentia to life imprisonment
Also important the Judge confirms #Russia had full control over "DPR" by May 2014 and the conflict was international. If only the west had acted then
#Russia's retreat from #Kherson was so chaotic at times that they started firing on their own colleagues escaping in small (likely stolen) boats.
The terrified Russians on board are shouting "we're yours" to soldiers launching "friendly-fire" from the left bank.
#Ukraine soldiers claim they've found a warehouse of stolen washing machines and other household "white goods" in a village in recently liberated #Kherson oblast.
This was one of #Russia's positions during occupation.
That's the claim from 🇺🇦Head of the region, @serhey_hayday. He told Novina Live "In the Svatovo-Kreminna direction, the trend is still positive, our troops are moving forward... but every meter is difficult."
Hello & welcome to another daily thread on Day 268 of #Russia's full invasion of #Ukraine, although the war can be traced back almost 9 years to early 2014.
Plenty of news yesterday, if you missed something take a scroll through Thursday's news feed here
Let me start with an update on this story from last night
I've traced the original to vanek_nikolaev's TG channel and now had it confirmed #Chaplynka was hit again, so this is likely genuine, multiple explosions in #Kherson region, just 16km from #Crimea
Last night rumours swept #Ukraine that the army had liberated multiple settlements on the south/east bank in #Kherson, fanned by Govt officials commenting on #Oleshky.
But so far they remain just rumours with no hard evidence.
Here's the British Intel update which explains why #Henichesk was chosen by #Russia as its 'capital' of #Kherson, having lost the real regional centre last week.
It's Day 263 of this war.
In 8 days it's the anniversary of the start of #Euromaidan protests in #Ukraine and subsequent Revolution of Dignity when the corrupt pro-#Russia president fled.
It's also 18 years since Moscow poisoned pro-West future President Viktor #Yushchenko.
The UK daily update focuses on the news about kids getting military training in #Russia's schools.
the #UK's Defence Minister @BWallaceMP has a message for #Russia and its people after yesterday's liberation of #Kherson and the whole region east of the River Dnipro.
