This is me socially precommitting to never use Coinbase.
To be clear, she didn't prosecute Ulbricht. She was involved in the Silk Road 2.0 case: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20…
Despite prosecuting Force/ Bridges, she's made no effort to argue that the corrupt investigation affected the fairness of Ulbricht's trial.
Also, she thinks that birth certificates should go on a blockchain.
Regulatory favour-gathering for the win!
Forough: 'I see a lot of people trying to solve problems around payment & crypto. But to be honest, all of these projects ignore conflict zones. What they create usually serves the privileged: people w/ bank accounts, countries w/ good infrastructure.'
It's kind of sad that this interview was conducted by Coinbase, because they themselves only service two countries in the entire Asia-Pacific region and none in South Asia (where CodeToInspire & Afghanistan are): coinbase.com/global
Your coin management issues were a big part in the Brave browser dropping bitcoin last year. Full circle, I guess.
Cut the crap, Coinbase.

EDIT: "Learn about how much we royally screwed you by encouraging use of a 'privacy coin,' while simultaneously not allowing you to use its privacy features and fingerprinting your use of our platform. Neutrino, activate!"
If you use Coinbase, now you are not only paying for your own surveillance but the salary of a person who contributed to the murder of journalists, targeting of minority populations, and spouse-ware around the world.
On the off-chance that you really are fucking oblivious @brian_armstrong, here is a history lesson on work of the person you just acquired:

"Mapping Hacking Team’s “Untraceable” Spyware" citizenlab.ca/2014/02/mappin…
@brian_armstrong Hacking Team has been listed as an "Enemy of the Internet" by @RSF_inter because they "sell products that are used by authoritarian governments to commit violations of human rights and freedom of information." rsf.org/en/news/specia…
@brian_armstrong Attacks on political opponents, journalists, and activists in Mexico and other Latin American countries, where those governments were purchasing spyware from Hacking Team and its competitors: dw.com/en/mexico-is-t… motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/…
@brian_armstrong Hey @varunsrin @balajis, explain yourselves. Now.
@brian_armstrong @varunsrin @balajis More history lesson: In 2014, Hacking Team created a 'Money Module' as part of their RCS suite to 1) remotely compromise your device 2) access your bitcoin wallet 3) monitor any bitcoin-related emails. Sound familiar? Guess who was using it? The Egyptian and Saudi governments:
@brian_armstrong @varunsrin @balajis More history: Hacking Team backdoored the software they sold to at least a few of those government clients. Here is an email from Marco Valleri (another Neutrino team member) about how they used this backdoor to conduct a "census": wikileaks.org/hackingteam/em…
If any Coinbase staff want to share their thoughts (privately), feel free to reach out via DM, email, Keybase, or Wire.

For your own safety, avoid using company-issued devices, email accounts, or WiFi networks to make contact. Ideally, create fresh accounts for this purpose.
More history: In March 2016, the Italian government revoked Hacking Team's global export license. Since 2014, they had been operating under a restricted license that required individual authorisation for every export: privacyinternational.org/blog/1042/hack…

When was Neutrino founded? 2016.
This was a big deal, since the Italian government itself was one of their first customers and HT's CEO David Vincenzetti managed to secure a general license through lobbying their intelligence contacts: privacyinternational.org/advocacy-brief…
'Would acquiring someone who consistently facilitated human rights abuses taint your claims of democratization?' via @teo_leibowitz from @TheBlock__ theblockcrypto.com/2019/02/25/mon…

.. despite the awkward "powered by Coinbase" paywall 🙈
Meanwhile, the so-called "financial privacy" company is very busy encouraging people to give up their privacy in exchange for pennies of their de-anonymized coin.
Unnamed person from Coinbase told @TheBlock__ that it was “aware that Neutrino’s co-founders previously worked at Hacking Team." #DeleteCoinbase theblockcrypto.com/2019/02/26/coi…
"Though the former Hacking Team executives now leading Neutrino will remain in their London offices, those actions could become a legal or regulatory liability for U.S.-based Coinbase." via @BreakerMag breakermag.com/coinbases-newe…
Regarding the allegations about Khashoggi, here is the relevant email:
