This guy understands me, he just gets me so much.
Here's the thing: the law should presume innocence. And it does. But in the case of rape, the law also presumes guilt of the accuser.
And, in all too many cases, especially for young or powerful white men, the law presumes innocence of the accused even after conviction.
Reason for this is, our culture presumes women are possessions. So rape trials frequently become fact-finding missions targeted on victims.
The rape trial becomes a post hoc analysis to determine upon what grounds the accused already possessed the woman in question.
That is the injustice in our system that needs to be addressed. Focus on the relative non-problem of false accusations is misdirection.
Who benefits from not addressing this injustice? Abusive people. Primarily abusive men.
This is really easy stuff to see, and really easy stuff to understand. So I suspect people who fail to do it either are arguing in bad faith
