We're thinking a lot about earthquakes. Lots of people in Mexico City are hurt. It's a tragedy. This thread will help people here prepare
We believe in the Seven Steps of Earthquake Safety endorsed by our friends at #ShakeOut Step 1. Secure your space. earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/
You also need a plan. That's Step 2. Planning ahead lets you and your family be safe after any kind of disaster. #NatlPrep #ShakeOut
After your plan, you need a kit. Everyone should make their own kit. Even pets need emergency kits. We can help mil.wa.gov/preparedness
Step 4 is to organize important documents and information & work to figure out insurance (Great @WA_OIC resource: insurance.wa.gov/earthquake-ins… )
Step 5 is knowing how to drop, cover and hold on. This could save your life. Practice Oct. 19 during #ShakeOut shakeout.org/Washington
After you drop, cover & hold on, get to safety, including high ground for potential tsunamis. Help others! earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/ #NatlPrep
After the immediate threat of the earthquake, your level of preparedness will determine your quality of life in the weeks & months to follow
At some point, help will arrive. But you need to be #2WeeksReady. Depending on quake intensity, help may not arrive right away #NatlPrep
We've got your back. But personal choices you make today, tomorrow, next week on preparedness WILL make a difference in how well you'll do
Do yourself a favor and research the seismic threats around your house, courtesy of our friends at @waDNR #Shakeout
