Wonder why @NationalADAPT protestors are putting their bodies on the line to save Medicaid and defeat Graham-Cassidy? /1
Because for millions of people with disabilities, Medicaid means a great deal more than just health insurance—it means independence. /2
Without home- and community-based services through Medicaid, many would end up in institutions, setting the nation back 50 years or more. /3
Slashing Medicaid would also take away the services that enable many people w/disabilities to work, pushing many out of the workforce. /4
PWD already face much lower labor-force participation rates than other groups. Slashing Medicaid would only make this worse. /5
G-C wouldn't just take away health insurance from tens of millions and torpedo protections for ppl w/pre-existing conditions.... /6
It would rip hard-fought freedom away from people with disabilities. /7
