THREAD 1/ I've been thinking for a while that there are three reasons to still support #Brexit - ignorance, xenophobia, selfishness.

3/ ...and its accompanying supplementary tweet thread, by ubiquitously-tweeting Brexit campaigner, Pete North
4/ We've all read and retweeted his lengthy threads, telling us how even though a Brexiter he's dismayed at the progress of negotiations.
5/ We've nodded and tutted at the appropriate times, because he's about the only Brexiter we feel is honest about the challenges and effects
6/ So we have to take him at his word and take note when he tells us his reasons for still supporting Brexit. They'd be good reasons right?
7/ The big reason?
8/ He thinks everybody is too soft and self-interested, so he wants to inflict some real pain on them to shock them out of their self-regard
9/ He knows how much pain this is going to cause - he knows that millions will be left destitute, maybe displaced.
10/ But he wants to shock society out of its rut.

11/ In my view, I think everyone should have a chance to leap for the stars, and a safety net if they fall.
12/ I just don't think success should have to be won over the bleached bones of others.
13/ But North? He wants to remake the world because he hates other people's lifestyles.
14/ He hates them so much he's prepared to trash the country to stop people eating muesli bars.
15/ I'm yet to see a single Brexit promoter with the decency to admit the project was misfounded, then apologise to those it's going to harm
16/ Decency? None of them have any decency. At all. There's a bent pin in their internal wiring.
17/ Who does this? Who notices the "lower middle class" have better lives than their forebears, and sees that as a problem to be solved?
18/ I get the desire to do something about this abjectly bad Government. But you're not going to improve things this way.
19/ Heaving all the political power over to the headbanging extremists is consigning us to a bunfight between hard left and hard right.
20/ So 65 million people get crushed between the ideologies. Nothing gets fixed.
21/ But then, North - and this is the fucking kicker - to acknowledge it's all going to shit and yet say you'd still do it all over again?
22/ That's my daughters' future you've sacrificed, you absolute fucker, and for what? To get one over on the latte drinkers?
23/ They aren't hipsters, they're *children*, and there's a non-zero chance many of them could be homeless as a result of your pissing about
24/ The next generation will definitely have fewer opportunities, more uncertain lives, as a result of this #Brexit fuckery.
25/Gamble with your own life & livelihood, don't drag rest of us down with your pathetic cry for attention because you don't like soya milk
26/ Damn right you'd vote leave again, because you've a little mechanical drumming monkey installed where your compassion is supposed to be.
