I know we'll be buying this book this Christmas and it'll be beautiful. But it makes me sad that books have to be half-price on publication.
Can you imagine the next new iPhone being half-price _ever_? Or all tickets to the new Star Wars film? Why do we do this to books?
I know, I know: of course there's a bigger context here. The market. Amazon. And it's great that Nigel Slater's new book will be affordable.
But... I wish we didn't exist in a world where we have to sell our superstars so cheaply from Day One.
