Many concerned about recent EO amending #EO13223 on IRR. I want to explain why we shouldn't be too concerned.
IRR—Individual Ready Reserve—is classification given to former military. IRR callups=backdoor drafts of those who've already served. Scary.
Helpful to read the original #EO13223 and the amendment side by side. To my eyes, very little substantive difference

They host the podcasts @RatlSecurity & @NSLpodcast. I listen to both frequently, and trust their judgment on national security law issues.
Thanks to @steve_vladeck for responding. He agrees the move on #EO13223 looks pretty benign for now.

A major problem with news coverage of Kavanaugh's deception is that the news relies on experts for its stories & that many of the legal experts including #NeverTrump conservatives & anti-trump progressives know #Kavanaugh to be a thoughtful lawyer. (Cartoon via @tomtomorrow)

As usual, I complain about the word "may." Like, one might believe that men are stereotypically stronger than women because of biological reasons. Well, that stereotype MAY be inaccurate, so that's gender bias. Right?

Don't argue too much on this.
Nigeria had 109 Senators as at the time Saraki was "elected" as Senate President by just 57 Senators. If that was constitutional & seen to have formed a "quorum"
then removing Saraki by 2/3 of the same "quorum" is constitutional...

Does the constitution say that the Senate President MUST come from the Majority party/ruling party?
Simple logic:
Can a Senator from the MINORITY be the Majority leader of the house?
Can a Senator from the Majority party be the Minority leader? 🤔🤔
