A lot of gamers attacking gaming journos right now for suggesting that single player games are on the decline 1/
When so far the only arguments I've seen to the contrary are 'well some single player games reviewed well this year'. 2/
I want that to be a positive statement as much as anyone, but it completely ignores what's important: sales. 3/
The reality is, aside from some rare outliers (HZD, BotW), single player games aren't making money while multiplayer games dominate 4/
The longer the trend continues, the less publishers will be willing to invest money into something which won't get them a return/profit 5/
There are very few publishers left as it is with the resources and courage to continue making risky (from a sales perspective) 1p games 6/
But once again, journos are the ones coming under attack for simply pointing this out and expressing that it's a sad thing happening 7/
It's not their fault. They aren't the ones pouring millions into micro transactions and the like, they're still championing the games 8/
So I'm struggling to see how some are using good reviews as an evidence 1p games are fine, then attacking ones who write those reviews 9/
Yet again, gaming journos are taking the heat for something utterly ridiculous, and getting called 'lazy' or 'stupid'. It's pathetic 10/
If you disagree with a gaming journo saying single player games are dying, don't send them hate, go spend loads of money on 1p games 11/
(Preferably on Wolfenstein II on Friday, thanks, but also on Mario, on Assassins Creed, on indie games etc) 12/
TL:DR, the consumer controls the industry, not journos or publishers. Don't target people for doing their jobs properly. Full stop.13/
But if you REALLY have a disagreement with what journos are saying, maybe try a discussion instead of personal insults. *mic drop* 14/14
