Hackers targeted journalists including reporters working for @tvrain, @Vedomosti and @novaya_gazeta - as well as TV personalities such as @xenia_sobchak and @tina_kandelaki.

My conversations with US national security reporters suggests they’re all quite careful but it’s illuminating to see who Fancy Bear takes an interest in even if there’s no evidence they were compromised.

Many journalists I spoke actually saw their targeting as a perverse kind of validation.
