Seriously, the fucking audacity of some ppl is astonishing. They never stop trying to silence survivors.

In American patriarchal society, we teach our children that abuse of women is acceptable. Exhibit A:

We teach our children that men are worth more then women. We fuel male entitlement to women, & we fuel the idea that women must be subordinate to men. We tell women that they’re responsible for how men react to them, & teach men that they are not responsible for their actions.

Men (& disappointingly, some women) are freaking out over some of the accusations. (The irony of accusations that women are the “hysterical” ones when the #NotAllMen crowd is currently losing their minds 🙄)
We have companies that canceled Christmas Parties b/c they feared that women would take the opportunity to accuse men who were there of harassing them; There is concern trolling that women have to “calm down” (cuz we’re hysterical) b/c there’s a HUGE difference
between #SexualViolence & an “innocent” hug - and ladies, why can’t we just learn to take a joke amirite? (I’d love to see someone clarify how a rape joke is funny)

this is a failure of parenting, a failure of education, a failure of culture & society. (& ooh boy one of these days I’ll do a thread on education fails. {not abt teachers}) Instead of teaching our kids proper #SexEd, including not only the anatomical parts & the basic biology
(which we barely do) but also respectful behavior toward one another. We need to teach consent. We need to explain that you do not touch someone else without their consent. You are not entitled to someone else’s body, nor their time or attention. We need to teach how to handle
