I know many are wondering, why Congress can’t just figure this out and reach a deal? There are a couple key reasons why we are here:
FIRST: Republicans in Washington spent an entire year trying to take away people's health care and pass tax breaks for the wealthy, leaving a mountain of bipartisan priorities to languish.
Now they want to move ahead as if it is business as usual and to not even attempt to govern. This partisan, do-nothing approach cannot become the new normal. cnn.com/2018/01/18/pol…
SECOND: The President is becoming unhinged.
President Trump held a bipartisan meeting and said he'd support whatever Democrats & Republicans could reach agreement on. realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/01/…
We reached a solid bipartisan agreement and while presenting it to the White House the President began his vulgar tirade about Haiti, El Salvador and African countries. washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
Just this morning, he attacked his own Chief of Staff because it appeared as though another compromise was close. latimes.com/nation/nationn…
President Trump spent last night attacking the free press hosting ‘fake news awards’ & Republican leaders continue to play politics with the hope of harming Democrats instead of accepting a bipartisan deal to keep the lights on.
The country needs a bipartisan budget deal and where is the President?

Campaigning in Pennsylvania.
They seem intent on partisan chaos and the American people are left with the consequences. I'm working to bring everyone back from the brink.

I am calling for the repeal of the Dickey Amendment, which restricts the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from researching gun violence and its effects on public health.
After every mass shooting, we are cautioned to wait for the facts before we act. Because of the Dickey Amendment, we don't have the facts. Repealing the Dickey Amendment should be a no-brainer.
This is about using scientific information as our guiding light to combat the gun violence epidemic. Lifting this ban will finally allow scientists to research solutions and give lawmakers the tools to make fact-based decisions on how to prevent the next tragedy.

(THREAD) MAJOR BREAKING NEWS: Mike Flynn will plead guilty to Making False Statements at 10:30 AM EST today (Friday). This is the biggest development in the Russia probe so far. This thread explains what it all means, and will be updated throughout the day. Please read and share.
1/ First, it's important to understand that Mueller has entered into a plea deal with Flynn in which Flynn pleads guilty to far less than the available evidence suggests he could be charged with. This indicates that he has cut a deal with Mueller to cooperate in the Russia probe.
2/ We've already seen Mueller do this once before in the probe, with George Papadopoulos—who was charged with the same crime as Flynn, Making False Statements, to secure his cooperation with the Russia probe. The Papadopoulos plea affidavit emphasized facts were being left out.
