We’ve been abundantly clear: We won’t tolerate attacks on our health care, rights or communities — but GOP Senate Leadership is still pushing a vote to criminalize abortion after 20 weeks. Trump would sign it. #StopTheBans
Allow us to break down the ways this is insulting and harmful.

First and most importantly, women should be able to control their bodies and can make their own health care decisions without interference from politicians.

FULL STOP. #StopTheBans
That should be enough. But if you need more, we know what happens when lawmakers play politics with women’s health care. It puts women and doctors in unimaginable situations — like needing to end a pregnancy for serious medical reasons but being unable to. #StopTheBans
Bills like this are rooted in fake-science. Doctors and medical associations like @ACOGAction oppose these laws because they prevent doctors from giving their patients the best care possible. #StopTheBans
Abortion bans are part of a broader agenda to completely ban abortion and even some forms of birth control. They’re unpopular, with a solid 60% of voters opposing the 20 week ban. #StopTheBans plannedparenthood.org/files/4914/206…
The Trump admin & Congress have spent an entire year attacking health care access, birth control access, and protection from discrimination in health care.

If they wanted to reduce the need for abortion, why not #Fight4BirthControl for all? 🤔
Since 2011, states have passed 401 abortion restrictions that force people to jump through hoops, travel further (and out of state), pay more, and wait longer to get the care they need. Many women would be able to access abortion sooner if it weren’t for unnecessary restrictions.
But don’t take our word for it. Listen to people who’ve had abortions:

“The reality is that later abortion is sometimes necessary. It’s something that happens to regular people who have real-life situations.” - Marla from Ohio
“Having the baby would have been emotionally and financially devastating to me and my entire family, and would have put my health and the baby's health at risk. We women are not incubators. We are people.” - Bri from PA
“Many politicians are willing to make an exception in my case, but all women need to have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, and politicians should not be involved in these decisions.” - Larissa from New Jersey
“Indiana has a 20-week ban, but I only got a firm diagnosis at 23 weeks. Legislators probably don’t realize everything that can go wrong with a pregnancy so late.” - Cynthia from Indiana
We have to be loud and clear: #StopTheBans

Call now to tell your senator to VOTE NO: istandwithpp.org/20-week-ban
