1) I want to do a thought experiment. @DropTha_Mic25 / @DropThe_Mic45 presented to me an interesting concept a few weeks ago. In order for there to be proven Russian interference in the election, 3 things had to be proven.
2) First, that it was Russia who hacked the DNC. Second, that it was done at the behest of the Trump campaign. Third, it was done directly to benefit Trump. Its been made abundantly clear that Russia did not hack the DNC, those emails were leaked, and it was called a hack.
3) This means Mueller is in the tightest spot possible as Special Counsel. His very mission is by nature a fishing expedition, as with no DNC hack there's no way to tie Trump to Russia. It follows that the earlier investigations were trying to find that link as well.
4) So this is where the thought experiment comes in. The goal is to find the simplest portrayal of reality that explains the facts as we know them the best.
5) We have individuals like Strzok and Page who were actively trying to find that link. The texts we have indicate that for at least a time they thought that link existed, and if it did then Trump shouldn't be President. Hillary zealots one and all.
6) So.... here's my thought that begs all kinds of questions. What if we're looking at 2 distinct groups in the attempted Trump takedown. First is the group we're aware of from the book Shattered like Podesta+Mook who planned election night to push the Russia lie, Fusion GPS, etc
7) And then, the second camp, the one that has been hinted at before. DoJ and FBI officials who BELIEVED IT. Note, this is not me trying to have sympathy for them, they proceeded to engage in no holds barred prosecutorial misconduct that needs to be punished heavily

9) Problem is, these zealot investigators and prosecutors can't link the DNC hack to the Trump campaign, much less prove its a hack. So they have to start looking EVERYWHERE. They even have senior WH officials feeding them raw SIGINT, all for the 'greater good'.
10) Slowly, what started as a counter-intelligence operation to keep Russia from interfering in US elections becomes a witch hunt against Trump, who Hillary and Obama's cronies convinced them was the great Russkie destroyer coming to kill America.
11) By the time the Special Counsel was appointed, they thought there was nothing to find, but they jumped on the investigation anyways. Exactly as expected.
12) As @drawandstrike and @Imperator_Rex3 and @LarrySchweikart have laid out, Mueller's investigation was a trap. Whether Mueller was in on the trap is irrelevant; most of the bad actors in the DoJ and FBI were drawn into it and exposed one by one.
13) People yell out treason and sedition and such, but those tend to be difficult crimes to prosecute, even moreso if the ones being charged like Strzok and Page were acting in what they thought was a good faith effort to save the USA.
14) What I think Horowitz' OIG investigation is ACTUALLY revealing? That after being lied to by Obama and Hillary and their senior officials, DoJ and FBI personnel both engaged in rampant, widespread misconduct trying to actively unseat Trump. @GenFlynn was one of the targets
15) And THOSE prosecutions are going to be what leads riiiiight up the chain to Obama and Hillary and their cronies. /end
