(1) Several folks have focused attention today on the apparent (albeit manufactured) conflict between House Intelligence Committee members and the FBI/DOJ over releasing the Nunez memo to the public. @Imperator_Rex3 did an outstanding job of showing yet another strategic play...
(2) So I will not add to the numerous capable commentators who knocked it out of the park.

However, as I read Mr. Rex’s thread (below) and as I reflected on the events of today as they come to a head, I harkened back to January 21, 2017...

(3) It was the first full day of the Trump Administration. On this day, not even taking a day to ease into the role of leader of the greatest nation on earth, that President Trump made his first non-Inaugural related appearance and speech as President. To the CIA headquarters...
(4) To ensure a clear and unambiguous message was communicated and heard by all in the Intelligence Community, Mr. Trump wanted, in fact needed, to address this group. Tarry not. Instill a clear message of importance and appreciation by visiting this group of heroes first...
(5) He, along with Vice President Pence and General Michael Flynn traveled into Virginia to personally address 400 CIA employees, to the exclusion of several hundred more that arrived but cold not fit into the room...
(6) He came to deliver a speech, though, it is not an accurate description. Mr. Trump has no TelePrompTer, and had no written speech or notes. He came to speak eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart. Just days before the media had invented derogatory statements attributed to him...
(7) ...and the crowd would not be faulted for being subdued or even hostile for those comments. However, the statements came from main stream media, and a majority of Americans already realized these were not likely words THIS President would ever think, much less say...
(8) The response of the CIA employees at every moment of this short discussion affirms: They knew better as well.

This talk of gratitude is one to which I’ve returned no less than a half dozen times over the 1st year of Mr. Trump’s administration...
(9) Each time I have returned to watch it is for different reasons. However, it is one of the most concise insights of what 2017 was about, and what we are about to finally begin to more fully understand in the coming weeks...
(10) While others have looked at the speech, I will also for the sake of thoroughness a bit later below. However, tonight, I happened upon a part of that event in a C-Span version that I had not encountered before.

This version included the brief opening remarks of VP Pence...
(11) As w/ President Trump, Mr. Pence had no script or notes. No TelePrompTer. Bear in mind...this is the first public comments of the Administration. The press is salivating. It’s important to not provide fodder for their rabid appetites. However, once again, from the heart...
(12) While President Trump’s message was short, VP Pence’s was even moreso. Always calm, always genuine, always endearing. But one moment stood out that is a continuation of the messages of comfort we Tw’tr analyst types continue to press out that sometimes go unnoticed...
(13) In the introduction of President Trump, Pence said the following:
“I’ve gotten to know our new President. We’ve traveled a lot together. When the cameras are off...I’ll tell you two things [about him] I know for sure...”
(14) “...Number one. I’ve never met anyone more dedicated to the safety and security of the people of the United States of America.”
KEY PART: “Or anyone who is a greater strategic thinker about how we accomplish that for this nation...”
(15) “... In fact, to understand the life of our new President...his whole life is strategy...and I know he is going to make America safe again.”

I have never seen the degree to which a Vice-President is as present with the President in so many events, meetings, and functions...
(16) It has always been a keen interest to me, as well as a bit of a mystery as well. There is the obvious: He’s the line of command if anything precludes the
President from performing the duties of the office...
(17) But then something more came to me when combining the persistent presence with my observations after two decades in the business world.

This is a true succession plan. In large businesses, it is common to plan for succession through mentoring...
(18) Mike Pence is a great politician, a good leader, & a truly selfless individual. But it is Donald Trump (“the greatest strategic thinker” Pence has ever known) who has the plan to save America from the corruption of the handful of bad actors in the Intelligence Community...
(19) Contrary to media spin and propaganda against America, Mr. Trump believes in the success of those close to him as well. We can argue about how much of the apparent ego is merely Art of War deception or not (of which I personally believe is 90% or more)...
(20) But more than seeing accolades and back patting for himself, Mr. Trump has a first and foremost mission to restore American purity and greatness. A major part of that involves the intelligence community clean-up. But for Trump, the mission is more important than the man...
(21) President Trump has let few into his strategic Mind Castle. To do so risks the war plans that were carefully crafted being discovered by the enemy. But, Mr. Pence tells us, “I’ve seen the strategy, and I’ve never seen or imagined anything like it.”
(22) Mr. Pence is the embodiment of the perfect public servant in so many ways, and the most important of all is humility. Mike Pence not only understands he has much to learn, but embraces it . He is the padawan learner of the Jedi Knight...
(23) Mr. Pence is the karate kid to the Mr. Myagi.

And more importantly, he is the torch bearer of the message and STRATEGY if the lead torch bearer cannot for any reason continue...
(24) You see, for President Trump & Vice President Pence both, it is the MISSION that is important, & NOT THE MAN.

Well, this thread took a different course than planned. I will stop here for now, & make an addendum later on Trump’s Part of the CIA covenant.

The end (kind of).
