So, the Comey FBI dropped surveillance of Omar Mateen (Pulse Night Club shooter) even though there was evidence he was a danger, but used a bogus dossier to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign & transition members.
So, the terrorist that was a danger among us was given a pass by Comey's FBI, but Carter Page, who doesn't exactly come off as an intelligent Russian spy, has FBI assets trained on him as if he were about to bring down the entire country in a nanosecond. Not much logic there.
IF Carter Page was such an imminent danger to the country then the FBI never should have allowed him near a presidential candidate under secret service protection. Evidence was so flimsy against Page that FISA court wouldn't grant the warrant without the dirty dossier.
US intelligence community and the Russians both thought that Carter Page was below average intelligence. Yet, Comey's FBI believed he was the linch pin that could bring down a nation & allowed him to be embedded in a presidential campaign. Sounds even more flimsy than the warrant

While separate entities within the FBI were used for Omar Mateen and Carter Page it is questionable how the senior leadership oversaw cases and prioritized assets.
The fact that the FBI was also notified Mateen stated he had terrorist ties to coworkers should have triggered a counter intelligence investigation into those ties whether he had them or not because he was already of interest to the FBI. nytimes.com/2016/06/13/us/…
Yet, Carter Page, a man practically deemed as a moron was worth more attention than a man that was being investigated by the FBI and claimed terrorist connections.
Omar Mateen was associated with Moner Mohammad Abusalha. Moner became the first American suicide bomber in Syria targeting Syrian government forces. Moner was associated with Al Nusra Front.
Carter Page did business in Russia so not surprising he'd have Russian contacts. How does the left think General Electric does business in Russia? Every American company that does business there has somebody that has Russian contacts.

Hillary's Skolkolvo connection dogged her somewhat during the 2016 campaign as it is linked to Russian oligarchs and Putin. So, there were people from the Clinton Foundation with Russian contacts but of course none of them were of interest even during an open FBI investigation.
That open FBI investigation was over Tenex and Rosatom. Yet, we don't hear of any associates of Hillary's involved with their Russian contacts being part of a FISA warrant.
Yet, we know that more than 1900 Americans were unmasked by the Obama Administration by public acknowledgement which means it is likely higher. The UN Ambassador, Samantha Power, was unmasking people almost daily. She has very little need for such requests in her position.

In fact, the Clintons and Podestas have more Kremlin connections than Page. Bill made more in a single speech in Russia than Page made in several years of business in Russia.
The FBI has limited resources. It can only direct so much of those resources towards any investigation. If Page was under investigation as early as 2013 then why was the FBI never able to get enough information to arrest him? They spied on him with far more resources than Mateen.
