Well. 62 Tory MPs sign ERG letter to PM, sent in last Friday that seeks to “share some suggestions” about how post Brexit UK operates trade

The ERG Brexiter Tory MPs seem to want Liam Fox to break the deal done with EU as regards the carving up of Tariff rate quotas at the WTO and negotiate directly with New Zealand, Australia etc - here’s the story I did on that with Fox at the WTO: news.sky.com/story/amp/sche…

Here’s me in the WTO basement in Geneva dusting off our old UK trade schedules - these are also mentioned prominently in the ERG letter:
BUT - after the successful UK-EU deal to “technically rectify” WTO quotas in sheep meat, sugar, beef etc by carving out UK’s recent historical usage - the third party countries incl NZ and the USA piled in and complained in this letter: 
Hence Tory MPs in this letter want the UK to negotiate directly with those third countries - ie to unilaterally assume schedules?? .. with New Zealand on sheep meat, Aus on beef, sugar etc etc without common position with EU
This could then open a total free for all on our negotiation to reestablish WTO membership and schedules, which could mean we wont have them ready by next March. This could imperil even the WTO option
On the other hand if the third countries continue to object to the TRQ carve up with the EU, not clear where that is going anyway
By the way, expect the devolved administrations to go apoplectic if some sort of backroom bilateral deal on lamb/beef access with NZ/Oz is cooked up this way
