1/ Hard Brexiteers: "The referendum result was about leaving the Customs Union.' Next week they say "the referendum result was about leaving the ECJ" next week "The referendum result really was about leaving the EEA"
2/ Okay, let's play this game. Let's say remain had won narrowly and the pro-EU press and MPs said "The referendum result was really about joining the Euro💶" next week, "The referendum result was about joining an EU army"
3/ Next week: "The referendum result was really about putting EU flags on public buildings🇪🇺" next week: "The referendum result was about the UK joining Schengen" etc.
4/ the likes of @isaby and @Jacob_Rees_Mogg would have been absolutely livid. They would say that the narrow remain win in the referendum meant that the British people didn't want any further EU integration.
5/ likewise the narrow margin for leave doesn't mandate a sudden and utter separation from the EU. If anything it suggests the public wanted a soft Brexit.
