Why we need an internet bill of rights
#WelcometoSlavery
For the first time in human history, the way in which we communicate has been fundamentally altered. We were given the ability to communicate with anyone, anywhere, at any time.
The internet became the ultimate means of communication, no longer did you even have to choose who you were communicating with, rather were allowed to simply communicate, and subsequently, people were allowed to choose to communicate back
The internet grew and grew, and attracted almost the entire population of the civilized world, with that unspoken promise of that freedom to communicate
#welcometoslavery
It allowed giants to grow, to be able to control every aspect of trade, from the exchange of goods and services to the marketing of those goods, even the commentary on those the goods.
#welcometoslavery
It for the first time allowed civilization the instant exchange of money, computers reconciled those exchanges, made finance almost automated.
#welcometoslavery
AND All types of information was available, anything you could think, there was an answer, or at least content to examine. And everyone was “happy”, they had never had more freedom in choice of consumer goods, or the investigation of certain ideas.
Over time these powers of the internet began limiting ur freedom, they found it important 4 u to relinquish personal rights, & wanted to be able to track ur every move or even every thought. (in a predictive senses) & if u wanted access u had 2 blindly accept.
Many argue u don’t have 2 use those services, & therefore not opt-in, but remember communication had been fundamentally altered. Your choice became 2 accept those terms or outcast yourself frm civilization in a communication sense
#welcometoslavery
You had to relinquish your private thoughts, and your movements, and your desires, just to remain an active participant in communication with society, outside of what you could participate in locally
#welcometoslavery
Everyone was excited because they had begun teaching the liberal ideals of embracing every opinion,It was marketed as giving everyone the ability 2 have endless connections, but most importantly it was faster and more convenient! AND YOU WERE BUSY!
However along the way they realized that the true value as a provider was having all that information on its users, they studied it, they analyzed it, they sold it to the highest bidder. THEY WERE MAKING MONEY ON SELLING INFO ABOUT YOU
Their studies showed they could predict your behavior, or they could predict who would make certain decisions based on previous decisions. AND THAT IS HOW THEY ASSIGNED VALUE TO IT.
#welcometoslavery
It was realized that they could now send you content, or suggest content, and in many ways steer you directly towards specific information, and believed that they could really control what information you were receiving.
Because you, as a user was no longer responsible to, chose your audience, you were allowed even more free expression, more closely resembling thought (not just in your words, but your actions, your page visits, etc)
#welcometoslavery
That information about you was further analyzed and sorted and categorized, almost in a way in which they believed your thought could be controlled.
Now why do I say it is your thought they were trying to control because the value was placed in: if we showed you this, then showed you that, we could get you do something; be it vote, purchase, boycott, etc
#welcometoslavery
So the more they could persuade you, control your thoughts and actions the more value they had, and the more powerful they became.
#welcometoslavery
IN 1984 Orwell wrote
With the development of television and the technical advance which made it possible to receive and transmit simultaneously on the same instrument, private life came to an end.”
The internet was that TELEVISION.
The promise of the internet no longer was about the availability of services and products or the free exchange of ideas, it became about giving away the information about your privacy to the highest bidder.
#welcometoslavery
It also allowed for the transmittance of video and audio instantly AND CHEAPLY. And our GOVERNMENT took every opportunity they could to install such capturing devices and OF COURSE THIS WAS DONE FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
#welcometoslavery
So now they could see and hear, you could only participate if you accepted pages of terms and conditions, and the information they collected about YOU was now their property AGAIN TO BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER
#welcometoslavery
Even if the government wanted that information it could be had, in violation of your constitutional rights for a price (or in adherence to some new law) Even if it was information on groups of people it could be had.
#welcometoslavery
Now the biggest challenge to the value of the internet came in 2016
When @HillaryClinton believed in their power to create actions ,and then outspent @realdonaldtrump by a large margin.
#welcometoslavery
However, it did not cause the outcome desired. There were too many contradictory opinions. TOO MUCH FREE THOUGH. FREE THOUGH BEING UNCONTROLLED, but regardless of what you believe the $ did not = desired results
#welcometoslavery
But the powers at be had grown used to this power, they could not let their system fail (the one controlling outcomes) the system of freedom had already been eroded. So they decided they must limit the ideas that people could discuss

Because when you now for the first time in the history of mankind have the closest form of conversation to thought
Limiting that conversation is the closest you can come to thought control!
#welcometoslavery
So in a country that was founded on FOR THE PPL, cannot exist in a system where 1 group is able 2 control the conversation, without disrupting the entirety of that system. Especially when the conversation controllers were not elected by the PEOPLE!
