1/ Today marks five years since I left Twitter to work on my own thing
2/ At this point I could easily fill 4-5 books with new software engineering knowledge
3/ One huge thing I've learned: continuations are THE key building block for asynchronous, parallel, and reactive code
4/ It's actually absurd how much complexity you can avoid with continuations as a basic building block
5/ Continuations let you abstract over control flow, adding a new dimension by which to design abstractions
6/ When I realized how to leverage continuations, I felt like "Square" in Flatland – being awakened to the third dimension when all I knew before was two dimensions
