I want to talk about bad habits and addictions.

The little mistakes, the denial, the self realization and the possible steps towards freedom.

I will as much as possible to be practical here.
But I also understand “God can do all things”

Thread.
One of the funniest things is that, a lot of people are addicted to stuff and they don’t believe they are.

Not necessarily denial o.

They honestly think they are totally in control of the situation and right now, they are living their best lives and making conscious choices.
But that’s the illusion of freedom.
It’s like going to buy skirt and Iya Razak asks you “how much you wan pay?”

She’s really leading you on.
If you don’t give her a price that matches or beats her Intended selling price, she won’t sell.

Most times we negotiate with our demons.
Now almost everyone who admits they have a problem (addiction) can look back and remember the day they shouldn’t have smoked that cigarette or even buy that data to browse bangbros.

But now all that is spilled milk.
No need to cry abi?

“The little mistakes”
After a while you masturbate every morning and evening and tell yourself it’s better than sexual promiscuity.

It might be better.
But that’s not why you are doing it.

You are doing it because “won ti get eh”
You are no longer in control.
You go into a gathering and you are just there with a bad mood or even struggling with complex.

But as soon as you pick up a stick of cigarette, the veil drops.

Suddenly you are confident and you feel everyone sees you as cool.

Lol.
That scenario was painted by your demons.
Eventually you will realize that after everything
The emptiness remains
You masturbate more, smoke more, gamble more, sniff more, inject more, drink more then what?

It wears out and your soul is tired.
Needs help

Your demons on the other hand are doing research on your behalf.
Let’s move on to progress.

I need to say this.
I know a lot of us won’t agree.
But we are not as strong as we think.

The mind, the self-will works with instructions and mostly illusions.

But in reality, we are all one snap away from losing everything we’ve worked for.
I’ll explain.
You struggle, stay away from porn, avoid sexual conversation even avoid unnecessary contact with your own genitals.
And that works.
You don’t masturbate for weeks.

One night, you want to reward yourself for the job well done with an orgasm.

Just one for the road.
1 becomes 2
Two becomes four

Before you know you are paying back for all the weeks you spent not smoking.

Everything is in excess.
Your demons are hungry.
You just opened the door so they are milking your soul.

All your progress, gone.

This applies to every kind of addiction.
What’s the way out?
There’s an apt but profound message common in Nigerian communities.
It says “Respect yourself” 😂😂.

Yeah.
Respect yourself.
There’s always that window where your demons goes to visit family.

Shut the door and never let them in.
NEVER!!!
Don’t ever think you have won that battle and you want to test yourself.

There’s no need for that.
You don’t have to prove anything to yourself or anyone.

Everything is a trigger and one has to be very careful.

Once you start making progress, never look back.
Please don’t.
1. Admit you have a problem.
2. Work towards solving it.
3. Speak to someone if need be.
4. Implement the steps/plan
5. Avoid triggers
6. Respect yourself
7. Live free ever after

And for you the clean ones.
Stop asking “what do you gain from this?”

If you can’t help, be quiet.
