If you're patting yourself on the back about how well Art.50 went this week, a couple of reminders:

1/

Transition wasn't settled yesterday. Instead, both sides have accepted a draft text.

That text remains subject to further negotiation, either on its own terms of because of other elements of the WA

Moreover, like all the other bits of the WA, the jointly-agreed text had no legal value unless and until the entire WA is ratified by all relevantt

3/

So while "nothing is agreed until everything is agreed" sounds trite, it's actually how it works. Everything or nothing

Aside from that, the lack of progress on the Irish dimension should be cause for concern

5/

Textually, things are where they were in Dec: everyone agrees on the backstop, but UK still doesn't want that backstop to occur, but hasn't advanced alternative arrangements

The developing EU mandate on the future relationship currently doesn't allow for enough integration to go down the Option A solution, and the technology model of B remains a glint in someone's eye

7/

If there's no movement by June #EUCO then expect a big crunch/crisis in talks

8/

And to round out the gloom (I'm blaming the weather), there's still a list of other unresolved points in the WA, plus issues in and around transition

9/

So, give yourself the weekend, then get back on it, because we're still a way off an agreed outcome
