The opportunistic politician would have sat back and not taken a lead on an issue that helped Franken and the party avoid the catastrophe of a Senate hearing, only to lose donors and to become an object of ire for I’m-not-a-sexist-buts.
The true cravens in this situation are the male politicians who sit back and make their female colleagues take this bullet, even though they know that women will get exponentially more blowback for speaking out than a man ever could.

Even her habit of portraying him as a doddering fool benefits Trump. It causes liberals, already eager to believe he’s stupid, to underestimate him and assume, for instance, that child separations were a result of incompetence, when they were, in fact, a result of design.
Straightforward propaganda portraying Trump as mighty and wise isn't going to fool anyone not already in the Fox News thrall. But "harmless old fool" is incredibly effective getting people off of seeing how serious this situation is.

huffingtonpost.com/entry/unmaking… Interesting story about an incel who has started to walk out of the cult. It’s a tough subject, however, because it always runs the risk of creating sympathy for what is a deeply hateful ideology.
What’s interesting to me is how many incels are so very young, which drives home how this really is not about them not being able to get dates. They self-classify as unfuckable before they are even old enough to test that proposition against the real world.
Instead, it’s clear to me that incels are a manifestation of cultural misogyny. These aren’t guys who can’t get laid and start hating women. They haven’t even tried to get a date, much less any sex. That narrative is an excuse layered over what’s really going on.
