One week away, so I'm going to share some of my favorite Masters pics. Feel free to add yours to the thread. This, by Fred Vuich for SI, was taken as Tiger played 18 to complete the Tiger Slam in 2002 and is a work of art.
Did anyone ever look better in black and white pics better than Arnie?
I mean, seriously?
The fact that this pic captured Scott screaming "C'mon Aussie!" and the raindrops is so great.
Amazing what can change in a generation. Love the framing of the fist photo, when Elder first played the Masters in 1975, and the intimacy of the second in 1997, when Tiger won and Elder was there.
Speaking of great framing... hello darkness my old friend....
The most famous versions of this photo are always shot from the front, but for some reason I love this one. Little paunch hanging over Jack's belt, eyes tracking the ball, foot off the ground showing he's walking it in. I would buy those pants right now.
This pic of Hogan reminds me of that Roger Hornsby quote. "People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
You always see versions of this photo from the front, but this version is great because you can see the crowd and Bones. And he really did leave the ground!
Gary Player's shoe game was exceptional. Also, those are the arms of a man who is country strong.
Shout out to the most awkward, electric, spontaneous high five in the history of sports.
The emotion captured here is so good.
Sometimes I wish we could bring back the haircuts from the late 50s/early 60s.
"Ok kiddo, it's really not that hard of a shot. You just skip it off the water, and run it up the back and let it settle."
And appropriate one of end on, for now.
